The Cost of Traveling on Vancouver Island 2012

Arriving at the Victoria Airport, the capital of British Columbia, you might be surprised to find yourself located in North Saanich on the Saanich Peninsula, the south end of Vancouver Island.
Victoria Airport is approximately 5 miles from Sidney BC and less than a mile from the Institute of Ocean Sciences, world renowned for its earthquake centre and scientific research.
The public transit system is a bit archaic, while the taxies line up with hopes you are going to Victoria, a minimum CAN $45.00 charge. (Sidney CAN $10.00)
Sidney is a relaxing ‘suburb’ of Victoria filled with boutique shopping and has a world presence as a ‘book town’. New to Sidney is Shaw Ocean Discovery Centre an amazing learning educational museum/environment.
Hotel costs vary, in Victoria, you will find the range from CAN $50 - $300 per night, the same can be said for Sidney where the big box hotels, like the Sidney Pier, charge extra for amenities where you will start at CAN $144, than add $5 for parking, $30 for your pet etc.
The most affordable waterfront hotel in the Sidney Area, and the only one with a beach is The Sidney Waterfront Inn & Spa, originally ‘The Hotel Sidney’ where a host of extras are included. With each stay guests receive a CAN $25 Certificate towards the Ocean Palm Spa as well as other discounts. Room price s start at CAN $109 per night
